Nodes and capacity

In the current product, a counted node is an enabled rnode registration in the control plane. An rnode provides transfer and storage capability and exposes a node API. The control service, PostgreSQL, UI host, and RIPTON Desktop workstations are not counted as registered transfer nodes.

• Creating or re-enabling the next node is blocked when the configured active-node limit is reached.
• Decommissioning disables a node without deleting its registration or history and frees an active slot.
• Permanent deletion is available only for a registration that is no longer referenced.
• A default-storage or preferred Web Edge node must be unassigned before decommissioning or deletion.
• Active transfers are not removed by a capacity error; capacity applies to registration and reactivation actions.

Administrators can view active, registered, limit, remaining, and over-limit values on the Nodes page. A limit of zero means unlimited in the configuration-backed enforcement currently shipped.
