Standalone versus suite
FileCatalyst is a feature of GoAnywhere MFT. RIPTON CLOUD is the transfer product itself, with Shared Inboxes, public links, scheduling and API included in its plans.
RIPTON CLOUD vs FileCatalyst
FileCatalyst pioneered UDP-accelerated transfer for broadcast and post and is now sold inside Fortra's GoAnywhere managed file transfer suite. RIPTON CLOUD offers the same class of accelerated transfer as a standalone, published-price product with an open design.
Competitor facts are taken from Fortra's public pages, retrieved 2026-09-13, and linked below. No speed multiple against FileCatalyst (Fortra GoAnywhere) is claimed; RIPTON CLOUD's figures are against a TCP baseline in a published test.
About FileCatalyst (Fortra GoAnywhere)
FileCatalyst is Fortra's UDP acceleration technology, marketed as a service within GoAnywhere MFT, an enterprise managed file transfer platform with SFTP, FTPS, HTTPS, AS2 and automation. Pricing is by quote; a 30-day trial is offered.
Published facts only. Where a vendor does not publish something, the table says so.
| Criterion | FileCatalyst (Fortra GoAnywhere) | RIPTON CLOUD |
|---|---|---|
| Pricing model | Not published; enterprise quote through Fortra. | Published: Free $0; Starter $99/mo; Professional $499/mo; Business $1,499/mo; Enterprise from $2,500/mo. Annual plans include two months free. |
| Free tier or trial | 30-day free trial of GoAnywhere MFT; a free limited edition exists. | Free plan: 3 named users, 1 Shared Inbox, 25 GB transfer a month, 10 GB per file. |
| External recipients | Managed through GoAnywhere web client and portals; licensing by quote. | External recipients and guest uploaders never use a seat and are never charged. |
| Deployment | On-premises, cloud, hybrid or Fortra-hosted MFTaaS. | Your own licensed transfer nodes (cloud or on-premises) with a hosted control plane; RIPTON Desktop for macOS, Windows and Linux; browser transfers through Web Edge. |
| Transfer protocol | FileCatalyst UDP acceleration alongside SFTP, FTPS, HTTPS and AS2. | RIPT: UDP-based, rate-controlled, block-level retransmission; TCP is used only for control traffic. |
| Encryption and trust | Protocol encryption per transport; compliance-focused MFT features. | Mandatory AES-256-GCM or ChaCha20-Poly1305 with a forward-secret key per session; replay protection per subflow; there is no plaintext mode. |
| Many small files | Supported. | Directories are packaged as one bundle, so file count does not add per-file round trips; published test: 100,000 x 512 B files in 0.98 s vs 2 min 52 s over TCP at 150 ms and 3% loss. |
| Automation | GoAnywhere workflows, triggers, scheduling and agents. | REST API, CLI, scheduler, watch folders and webhooks from Professional; SAML SSO, roles and full audit from Professional; SCIM on Business. |
| Performance evidence | 'Up to 10x faster than SFTP, FTPS or HTTP' and 'up to 10 Gbps' statements. | Reproducible benchmarks with the environment, commands and network conditions published; cryptographic design summary available for review. |

FAQ
No. RIPTON CLOUD moves data over its own protocol with browser and Desktop clients. If partners require SFTP endpoints, an MFT suite is the right tool.
We do not publish a multiple against FileCatalyst. Both are UDP-based; the difference on your route is what a side-by-side proof of concept shows.
